European Journal of Oral Sciences is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief

Search for a new Editor-in-Chief

The editorial period of the present Editor-in-Chief of the Europan Journal of Oral Sciences will finish at the end of 2025, and the Journal is now seeking contact with colleagues interested in applying for this position.

The European Journal of Oral Sciences is an internationally highly reputed journal with a pronounced scientific focus, which publishes original research within clinical dentistry, on all basic aspects of structure, chemistry, developmental biology, physiology, and pathology of relevant tissues, as well as on microbiology, biomaterials, and the behavioral sciences as they relate to dentistry. The Journal was earlier published under the titles Scandinavian Journal of Dental Research
(until 1995) and Odontologisk Tidskrift (until 1970) and is in effect the world’s oldest scientific journal within odontology.

The Oral Sciences is owned by Nordisk Odontologisk Förening – the Scandinavian Division of the IADR – and is published bimonthly. The Editor-in-Chief has the responsibility to organize the Journal’s editorial activities and is responsible for its publishing principles, scientific contents, and economy. In addition to the Editor-in-Chief, the Oral Sciences presently operates with six Associate Editors to adequately cover its multi-disciplinary manuscript submissions. An Editorial Board is in the process of being established.

The work as Editor-in-Chief encompasses a substantial year-around undertaking. Interested candidates must therefore be prepared to set aside significant time on a continued weekly basis for journal work. The Editor-in-Chief receives an honorarium, and candidates must seriously consider the relation between their ordinary employment and the Editorship, formally as well as time-wise. To be eligible for the Editorship, a candidate must be proficient in scientific English and be an active researcher with an outstanding own research background and publication record. Leadership experience and current leadership of a research
group will be beneficial. Prior experience with the editorial process is a clear advantage, and an international presence in oral science is expected. A letter of interest should be sent to the Journal’s Editorial Office (oral.sciences@dent.au.dk) as soon as possible but no later than September 30 and should include a concise CV, publication list and a letter briefly outlining editorial views and intentions, possible remuneration requests, and delineating the practicalities related to the candidate’s ordinary employment. Based on this, the appointed search committee will then select a smaller group of candidates who may be contacted for further consideration.

Additional information about the Europan Journal of Oral Sciences and the Editorship may be obtained by contacting Editor-in-Chief Vibeke Baelum (editor@dent.au.dk) or NOF President Ülle Voog-Oras (ulle.voog-oras@ut.ee).
